The Council of Ministers has approved a Royal Decree that regulates the Energy Savings Certificates (CAE) to achieve the committed energy savings objectives with the European Union and comply with the measures planned in the Energy Security Plan.
The new measure allows companies that are subject to an annual energy savings quota to voluntarily replace a percentage of payments to the FNEE (National Energy Efficiency Fund) for a certified energy savings.
To obtain the CAE, measures related to air conditioning, lighting, processes, and others included in a catalog can be carried out, which will subsequently be registered on a platform where the certificates will be issued, and can also be marketed. The tool is intended to promote investment in efficient technologies and also reduce the energy bill for consumers, as marketers can purchase energy savings from facility owners to obtain the certificates.
