The Government is advancing in its proposal to reform the electricity market of the Unió Europea
The Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge has given some details of the proposal that it will send to the Comissió Europea to reform the electricity market. This proposal includes the initiative to permanently limit the impact of gas on the electricity bill, as well as the idea of establishing a fixed and regulated price for hydroelectric and nuclear power plants.
The Government aims to make the wholesale market more predictable for both generating companies and final consumers. This would result in the marginalist scheme we know being largely supported by a new way of functioning based on the average costs of each technology, in order to give more importance to renewable energies.
Capacity auctions would come into play to establish the remuneration for technologies such as combined cycles, pumping hydroelectric power plants, and batteries.
