Last Tuesday, we attended the energy markets conference organized by the Energy Managers Group of Catalonia and the Catalan Energy Institute, which took place at the Casa del Mar in Barcelona.
Energy Tools sponsored this fundamental meeting on the energy calendar, and for this reason, we did not want to miss the interesting presentations that took place.
Among other topics, the perspective of the hydrocarbon market was discussed. As always, the Brent price is marked by volatility and the influence of geopolitics: for example, the demand for oil will grow due to the development of India, China, Africa, and other similar regions. But we must also take into account the production cuts of Russia and Saudi Arabia or the conflict in Venezuela, among others. The relevance of hubs in controlling the price of gas or electricity was also discussed: 2018 was the most expensive year for wholesale electricity since the liberalization of this market.
Finally, the transition from the high-voltage tariff from 6.1 to 6.1b and 6.2 was discussed, and the difference between the Basque Country and Catalonia in this regard.
It was a pleasure to be part of a conference dedicated to learning the secrets of current markets.
